Our Values

We know that you have many options when it comes to receiving behavioral health care.

There are many organizations providing mental health services in central Indiana, and we’re happy that’s the case. More service providers means more people have access to care. Our greatest wish is that everyone receives the treatment and support they deserve.

But with so many providers to choose from, why might you choose Cummins?

At Cummins Behavioral Health, our goal is to deliver the highest quality of care possible for our consumers. We do this by following a few important core values.

Cummins’ Guiding Values

We believe values are more than just words on a web page. Our values are who we are as an organization. They are what we believe in and what we strive for in all of our actions, from high-level service planning all the way down to day-to-day interactions with consumers.

  • Respect

Respect plays an important role in how we view and interact with other people. Feeling respected by other people increases our self-esteem, sense of affiliation, and sense of belonging in a group. In mental health settings, respect can help a person feel comfortable to honestly share their thoughts and emotions, which is crucial for any therapeutic relationship.

We strive for all of our actions to convey respect for the uniqueness, dignity and worth of every individual we interact with. Individually and collectively, we seek to be advocates for those we serve.

  • Integrity

Integrity is the quality of being incorruptible. A person or institution that has integrity is incapable of being led astray from its moral or ethical code. If you know someone who you believe to have integrity, then you probably think very highly of this person. You probably trust that they will always do what’s right, even when doing the right thing is difficult.

Our goal is to never waver from our ethical code. All of our decisions are characterized by honesty and adherence to our ethical standards. We are each personally vigilant in the effort to sustain the highest levels of principled behavior.

  • Continuous Learning

Learning is a central part of being human. We come into this world without any understanding of it, and everything that we know now, we had to learn somewhere along the way. Learning is not always easy, and it can sometimes be comforting to believe that we know enough. But it’s important to always keep an open mind about learning new things.

Our belief in lifelong learning helps us continually improve the quality of care we can offer our consumers. Continuous learning influences everything from our team’s professional development to how they deliver services.

  • Hope of Recovery

Hope is a powerful asset in life. When we are faced with adversity, hope helps us push through obstacles and strive for a better future. On the other hand, when we feel hopeless, we have no motivation to strive for something better, and we may also be vulnerable to experiencing mental health problems like distress, depression and anxiety.

Hope is essential in recovery from a mental health challenge. We believe in everyone’s potential for growth, change, and recovery, and we recognize that one of our primary roles is to help instill the hope of recovery in the people we serve.
